Why Liverpool must avoid building Jurgen Klopp a stature

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has called on the club owners ‘Fenway Group’ to build Jurgen Klopp a stature for all he has achieved with the club.

The call from Gerrard is respectable knowing what Klopp has accomplished in 4 years since taking over the club. Under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have lifted the Champions League trophy, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

But that is not all, Liverpool are finally going to end thier 30 year wait to win a Premier League title. They will champions if they win at Goodison Park against their bitter rivals Everton {but only if Manchester City lose to Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium} or, win it against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Once that trophy is secured, Klopp automatically goes into the history books as the first Liverpool coach to win the Premier League title. That alone deserves a stature.

Awarding Klopp for his fantastic job is certainly commendable but Liverpool don’t have to do it now.

This is the second year in a row Liverpool players and fans will celebrate a title win which is incredible good. Winning titles feels good but a top manager must do it for 4 years like other world class coaches.

World class managers like Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri all won consecutive trophies for 4 years in a row with their respective clubs and yet, none of those clubs built them statures.

For instance, Zinedine Zidane won the Champion League twice as player with Real Madrid; once as the club’s assistant manager with Real Madrid back 2014 before creating his own record as the second manager in football history to win the Champions League three times in a row with Real Madrid.

You don’t go to the Estadio Santiago Bernebau and see a stature of Zinedine Zidane. Its really don’t make sense.. A time for that will come but not now that Zidane is preparing to prove he is the greatest manager the world has ever seen.

Managers are just like players, you have to give them a reason to keep working hard or they relax feeling they’ve accomplished everything.

Build Klopp a stature now and he will leave the club the following year knowing he has accomplished all there’s to accomplish at club.
