According to Marca, Barcelona will sell off players who have filled to live up to expectation at Camp Nou or, struggled to impress the manager. The Catalunya giants are optimistic of signing talented players who can provide them with the platform to win more trophies under Quique Setien.
Next season, Barcelona will be aiming to win the La Liga title, the Copa Del Rey and the Champions League trophy but to achieve this fate, they will have to sell off fringe players and replace them with world class players.
Here are the players Barcelona will likely sell:
Ardan Turan– The 33-year-old Turkish international is probably the worst signing in Barcelona’s history. The Istanbur Basaksehir F.K on loan attacker has struggled with form and consistency since he left Atletico Madrid and joined Barcelona in $36m deal back in 2014.
Turan has managed just 32 appearances in six years and could be sold this summer.
Philippe Coutinho- The Brazilian superstar will certainly be leaving Barcelona this summer either on loan or permanently. Coutinho might be Barcelona’s most expensive player but, his style of play is not compatible with Lionel Messi who demands a lot of the ball and wants space to orchestrate the tempo of the tempo.
Coutinho will likely be returning to the Premier League to join Liverpool or loan or permanently sign for Tottenham Hotspur.
Ivan Rakitic- The Croatian superstar has outlived his usefulness at Barcelona and will likely be sold this summer. Frenkie De Jong has proven he is a better, stronger and more fitter than the 32-year-old World Cup finalist.
According to Sky Sports Italy, Rakitic is wanted by Inter Milan who are hoping to wrestle off the Seria A title from the 8 times winners Juventus.
Junior Firpo– The former Real Betis player will likely be leaving Barcelona this summer having struggled to hold down a regular playing berth under Quique Setien. Firpo is an incredibly talented player who has the potential to become a world class player but, if he insists on remaining on Barcelona’s pay-roll there’s a huge possibility he might never realize his potential.
Samuel Umtiti– The former Lyon defender is currently deemed surplus to requirement at Barcelona and he is free to leave if any suitable offer comes in for him. The World Cup defender could be moving to PSG to replace Thiago SIlva.
