For the first three games it felt like Barcelona has just signed the real deal in Memphis Depay. A player some believed has the potential of winning games single handily with an incisive pass or shot.
Depay was the man to replace Lionel Messi which many thought after he scored 2 goals in 3 games. Even his manager Ronald Koeman almost started believing that just maybe Depay was the man to get his team operating at the highest level.
Sadly that unconceived believe about his Dutch counterpart almost got him sacked. Depay scored just 2 goals in his next nine games while Barcelona lost ground to the league rivals Altetico Madrid and Real Madrid.
Currently, Barcelona are ninth in the league table, 6 points off Real Sociedad and 5 points off second placed Real Madrid who have a game in hand.
But, its too early to feeling gloomy and blue. There’s still a lot of games to be played and with Sergio Aguero now fit and returning to this goal scoring form, Barcelona will certainly get back to winning ways.
