3 difficult changes Xavi Hernandez must make to get Barcelona back on the top

After 21 years of playing top level football and competing with the very best in La Liga and Europe, Barcelona has digress to mediocrity and now battling to remain relevant.

They no longer have a game changer who could create something out of nothing or, lead the club to countless victories and trophies. A player everyone considers to the greatest of all time and currently the best in the world.

What Barcelona do have in abundance are cast offs. Players who wouldn’t even make the benches in Real Madrid PSG or Liverpool.

But, such a situation can be salvaged if Barcelona make this three changes.

Forget the past and focus on the future– Ronald Koeman was absolutely right when he said the current Barcelona team is far inferior to the 2006, 2008 or the 2015 teams. The club don’t have the money to buy instant success and must now take time to rebuild.

Minimum of 3 to 4 years to get back to the top.

Sell off aging players, unhappy players and bring in young and unproven players– Its time Barcelona allowed players like Jordi Alba, Philippe Coutinho, Ousame Dembele, Sergio Busquet, Samuel Umtiti and others leave permanently. They must sell this players and sign young talented players with the money.

Invest more on the youth system and then sell one or two to bring in very experienced players- Barcelona need to find the next Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi or even Gerrard Pique in their La Masia academy.

They also need to sell off one or two of this promising players and use the money to sign very experienced players to help them recover quickly and compete again in the highest level.
