Cristiano Ronaldo

Why Real Madrid is to be blamed for Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent struggles

3 years ago, Cristiano Ronaldo was hoisting aloft the Champions League trophy, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World with Real Madrid.

Those club trophies ensured he won his fifth Ballon d’or, his 4th UEFA Player of the Year and the FIFA World Player of the Year. But that’ s not all, Ronaldo was winning trophies from around the globe.

Even sports magazines and website were all labeling him the best player in the world.

But as soon as he departed Real Madrid to join Juventus two seasons ago, individual trophies seized.

Ronaldo has won just one individual award in two years with Juventus. His only trophy was the Seria A player of the Year last season and that’s it.

Meanwhile his rival Lionel Messi recently lifted the Ballon d’Or for a record six times while Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk won the UEFA Player of the Year.

Cristiano Ronaldo still remains an excellent player who can decide any game single handily but when it comes to individual trophies, he will struggle from now to win it without Real Madrid
