3 things Manchester City ‘must do to beat Liverpool’ at home

Manchester City vs Liverpool will see two of the finest sides in Premier League history pelt their wilts and tricks against each other. Jurgen Klopp will arrive the Etihad Stadium with the sole intention of winning, not drawing or losing which Pep Guardiola must avoid.

Guardiola and his players can’t afford to give Liverpool a guard of honour and then lose 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0 to them at home. It will be hugely embarrassing even for the fans who will watching at home. But to afford that fate, City must be very prepared.

Three things City must do to beat Liverpool-

1. Focus on Trent Alexander Arnold, he is Liverpool’s weak and strength– Mercurial play maker Bernando Silva should start the match ahead of Riyad Mahrez due to his explosive pace, trickery, intelligence and above all ability to finish off chances. His presence will put serious pressure on Arnold and limit him from going forward and putting in crosses for the Reds fantastic trio to score.

Stop Trent Alexander Arnold, you stop Liverpool.

2. Kevin De Bruyne should play false nine or centrally– Guardiola should use the 4-6-0 formation to distorts Liverpool’s well organised back-line and force them into making mistakes. Once that is done, De Bruyne should be the man making the attacking runs ad finishing the chances and not the one pulling the strings in midfield.

Joe Gomez will definitely struggle to stop De Bruyne from scoring.

3. City must start with a ferocious pace and push Liverpool back– City must keep the ball better and push Liverpool back to thier bay. Yes they gegen-press but if the ball is passed with pass and precision, Klopp’s playrs will be forced to conserve thier energy and push back.

But playing around for the fun of it won’t make sense, City must try long distance shoots or try to caught them open with creativity. Players like like David Silva, De Bruyne, Bernando Silva dn Ilkay Gundogan posses creativity to do some.
