Why Oliver Giroud’s Perfect Record Could Deny Arsenal The FA Cup Title

Arsenal will play Chelsea in the FA CUP final and most fans will believe the Gunners have the edge over the Blues due to their unrivaled success in the compositions. They’ve won the trophy a record 13 times of which Arsene Wenger won it 7 times.

Surprisingly, the 2016-17 FA Cup win is the last time Arsenal won a domestic trophy but, under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have an ample opportunity to win it for 14th time against Chelsea. Although, achieving that fate will be difficult due to Olivier Giroud’s success in the competition.

The 33-year-old France international striker is the only striker in history to win the trophy 4 times with 2 different clubs. What makes him special is that he has never lost an FA Cup final which should be a cause of concern to his former teammate and now manager of Arsenal football club Mikel Arteta.

In fact, Giroud have never lost any domestic cup game he has played at Wembley. He has played 12 times won 12 times and lifted 7 trophies while scoring 5 goals with 2 assists.

Giroud penchant to create or score crucial goals stands him out from most modern strikers. He knows how to raise the bar in finals and ensure his respective teams {Montepellier, Arsenal, Chelsea and even France} win major tournaments.

Sadly, stopping him is eventually impossible due to his inert desire to score at all cost and the opposition disregard of his quality until he strikes and scores. The 33-year-old plays FA Cup finals like its the last football match he will ever play and that is Why Arsenal must lay more emphases on stopping him from getting into good position to score or create chances.

He will certainly start ahead of Tammy Abraham and that could be an antidote to expose Arsenal’s shaky back line.

If Arsenal are serious about winning the FA Cup this season , they must focus on stopping the french man first before focusing on Christian Pulisic who now scores goals for fun.
