Goal.com has reported that Manchester United have agreed to sign Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek for £40m. The 23-year-old dutch international will become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first summer as the club aims to revamp the squad.
United have been monitory the star for a while now and as soon as it became clear that he wants to join Manchester United, the club swiftly paid off his asking price.
Although, Barcelona were the front runners to sign the highly coveted midfielder but with Barca putting more emphases on keeping Messi rather than recruiting new players, a window of opportunity was created for Manchester United who swooped in and signed the midfielder.
According to Sky Sports, Donny van de Beek will sign a 4 yea contract worth £160,000-a-week. The English Media further reports that Manchester United haven’t giving up on signing Borrusia Dortmund’s star Jadon Sancho.
United are unwilling to pay £120m for Sancho and use a third party agent to discuss the deal. The experience they had with Alexis Sanchez has taught everyone a lesson at United and now, the club are willing to repeat that same mistake.
Manchester United are still open to doing business with Dortmund but will not be forced to pay a crazy fee for Sancho.
