Manchester City are on the verge of reaching a deal in principle to sign Barcelona’s greatest player Lionel Messi. Lio has reportedly made up his mind to leave Barcelona after failing out of love with the management, coach and ideology that built the club.
Spanish Sports Publication Cadena Ser reports that Messi wants to join Manchester City and link up with Pep Guardiola who he rates as the best manager in the world. With Guardiola, Messi played arguably his best football in Barcelona colours. He scored 244 goals en-route to winning 14 trophies along with 2 Champions league in 4 years.
Now 33 and diminishing, Messi has reached out to Manchester City where Pep Guardiola currently manages to join them. The club has now offered him a two year contract which will be signed as soon as Messi completely ends his 20-year association with Barcelona amicably or through the court.
The Spanish paper further reports that Lionel Messi could see the departure of Gabriel Jesus. The 23-year-old Brazilian international will likely join Barcelona as Luis Suarez long term replacement.
Although, City have no interest in selling off the prolific attacker but, with Barcelona set to lose both Messi and Luis Suarez, Jesus will be asked for and City will offer him.
According to Manchester Evening Standard, City have reached personal agreement to sign Kalidou Koulibaly. Napoli though are holding out for £71m and will not sanction the move unless everything is paid in full.
City meanwhile could offer $45m and pay the rest installments like most clubs do.
