According to AS Sport, Manchester City have offered £82m to sign Atletico Madrid star Jose Maria Gimenez. The reports further claims City have offered £4.5m in bonuses as well as £170,000-a-week in wages to lure the battle hard defensive midfielder.
City coach Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the the 25-year-old Uruguay international who posses similar characteristic with Fernandinho. Gimenez is tough tackling midfielder who reads the game brilliantly, intercepts dangerous balls and instantly set up attacking runs.
A team like Manchester City needs a good playing midfielder who retrieves the ball and instantly set up others to attack incessantly. Rodri who joined from Atletico Madrid was expected to provide such balance but sadly, City’s fragile defense might he played more in defense than in midfield.
But signing the midfielder will be complicated due to Atletico Madrid’s transfer demand. Rojiblancos want City to pay his £110m release clause or no deal.
