Liverpool Vs. Arsenal: Why Jurgen Klopp Believes He Can Win The Carabao Cup

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has dismissed the popular notion that he prioritizes winning the Premier League and Champions League over other domestic trophies like Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Klopp is yet to win a domestic cup competitions with Liverpool since he arrived at Anfield back in 2015 due to different reasons but two\o in particular stands out. The first is the strength of his second and the second is his concern over the fitness and wellbeing of his players due to over packed fixtures.

Last season, Klopp was vocal about the congested fixtures and how the ill advised arraignments of cup competitions affects his team’s fitness going into the final phase of the Premier League season.

In a show of nerve and audacity, Klopp abandoned the competitions altogether and left the cup duties to club’s U-23 manager Neil Critchley who surprisingly knocked Shrewbury FC out of competitions in the return leg at Anfield courtesy of own goal.


But this season, Klopp have had a rethink of the competition and now wants to attack it with all his got even though his record on cup competitions is really bad.

Klopp have reached 9 cup finals, winning 4 and losing 5. In fact, he lost 4 cup finals in a row { the Carling Cup now called Caraboa Cup; the Europa League, the 2018 Champions League final and the Community Shield to Manchester City } before going on to win the Champions League against Spurs and other trophies.

This season though, Klopp has vowed to attack the EPL Competition with all he has got and stop Manchester City from winning the competitions four times in a row.

The manager strongly believes Liverpool’s squad depth is deeper than last season and the signing of Temas, Jota and Thiago Alcantara have made them far stronger and much more competitive.
