The 31-year-old reportedly revealed he fall in love with football watching Manchester United under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson who dominated the English league and won a record 13 Premier League titles. Ferguson made Manchester United a global club and Ighalo who was watching back in Nigeria wanted to be part of it.

HIs first season with the club was averagely good. Ighalo made 19 appearance in all competition and scored 7 goals with 4 assists to help United finish in the top 4 and reach the Europa League semi final.

To some fans and pundits his overall contributions was ok, but to the manager, his lack of pace and style of playing was a problem. So a drastic change was needed. Ighalo was frozen out of the first team and his place was taken by Anthony Martial who is faster but not too clinical.

Now, the club are on the verge of signing an elite striker in Edinson Cavani whose imminent arrival could be end of Idon Ighalo stay at Manchester Untied.

Cavani’s two year contact along with the presence of Anthony Martial will mean Manchester United will have to deem Ighalo surplus to requirement and end his loan deal.

Ighalo though won’t be sad. He will leave Manchester Untied as the first Nigeria to play for the club and the seventh African to don the famous jersey. That is dream come true.
