Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing another goalkeeper after injury ruled out Alisso Becker for 4 to 6 months. The 27-year-old Brazilian international will miss at least 7 matches including the Champions League opener against Ajax and then Atlanta.
With Alisson out for a long term, Liverpool have to rely on Adrian who often makes good saves but have penchant to make high profile errors. HIs mistimed pass against Aston Villa was the catalyst to Liverpool conceding 7 goals against Aston Villa. A premier league record for the biggest defeat suffered by defending league champion.
Terrified of prospect of shipping in more goals and failing behind in the race to retain the Premier League title, Liverpool have contacted two goalkeepers currently playing in the championship.
The Reds have contacted Stoke City’s highly rated goalkeeper Jack Butland who is open to joining the Reds and will cost them £12m to sign. Although, convincing the England international to become Liverpool’s third choice keeper will certainly be hard.
Liverpool are also interested in signing Brentford keeper David Raya who is just 25-years-old and far cheaper than Butland. The Spanish keeper will cost Liverpool £5m to sign.
Raya is revered for his athleticism, cat like reflexes, good ball distribution and good communication skills.
