Early reports that revaled that Liverpool’s most reliable centre back Virgil Van Dijl have suffered medial ligament damage and not a Anterior Cruciate Ligament damage which could have ruled out for the rest of the season.
The towering Dutch defender sustained the injury during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Everton after a horror challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. In anguish, Van Dijk stayed down clutching his kneels in pain.
Realizing he might have ended Van Dijk’s season, Pickford instantly called on the medics to get in and resuscitate the very important defender.
According to Mail, Van Dijk’s is currently on clutches and early reports indicates he will be out for 6 weeks with medial ligament damage and won’t need operations.
His absence will be a massive blow to Liverpool’s title defense. Cause, he is central to how Liverpool play. He offers stability in the back, builds the game brilliantly from the back and then finds Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane with 60 or 70 yard passes.
That is about end and Liverpool will have to depend on an inconsistent Joe Gomez or, the injury plagued Joel Matip who can’t play up 10 games without breaking down.
Or, they will have to play Fabinho in the back and hope, pacy attackers don’t target. Liverpool is in big problem.
