Real Madrid Vs. Barcelona: Why Karim Benzema And Not Lionel Messi Will Decide The Game

El Clasico is here again and two of the biggest club’s in Spain will lock horns at the Estadio Santiagio Bernebue. Real Madrid will welcome a familiar foe who has grown weaker over the years and become very reliant on their enigmatic attacker Lionel Messi.

Sadly, the 33-year-old have slowed down in beating his markers with ease but, he remains one of the best players in the world and his incredible tally of 26 goals with 10 assists in 41 meetings in the El Clasico makes him the player to stop.

Messi have played 41 El Clasico matches, winning 19, drawing 11 and losing 13.

Since 2010, Messi have been part of the Barcelona team that have recorded 16 wins to Madrid’s 11, with 10 of the games ending in draws.

But, time has changed and Real Madrid have grown far stronger than their rivals. Los Blancos now have a world class manager in Zinedine Zidane, a world class captain in {Sergio Ramos} who happens to be defender and a fine goal scorer.

The club also have an experienced defense; midfield and a world class finisher in Karim Benzema who has remarkably provided the goals needed for Madrid to win major trophies.

Benzema has proven in the past two seasons that Real Madrid can win trophies without Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. They won the La Liga title last season and he was one scoring the much needed goals.

Barcelona might prove difficult to break down but with a player of Karim Benzema stature and game winning abilities, expect Real Madrid to win the game and Lionel Messi labouring all day to find spaces for inexperienced teammates.
