What a pulsating end to a truly remarkable derby clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Spurs were tactically brilliant and their counter attacking display was difficult to be contained by an Arsenal side struggling with form and consistency. The Gunners though had more of the possession 62% to Spurs 38% but, the problem was creating chances and scoring them.
Tactically, Jose Mourinho deployed a low block which prevented Arsenal’s fast attackers from finding spaces behind the defenders to run to as well as stifled the creative players from sliding in pass to the final third.
Spurs simply soaked up the pressure and then hit Arsenal on a quick counter attack.
Heug Min Son scored what many will consider the goal of the season with a breathtaking change of pace and smashing shoot.
His goal stunned everyone including Mikel Arteta who would’ve applauded had not been the opposition manager.
Harry Kane who provided him the assist then made it 2-0 after another counter attacking over.
The display was reminiscent of Jose Mourinho past team. You could bet Jose Mourinho was recreating the tactical approach that won him the La Liga title with Real Madrid back in 2011.
Counter attacking football and low blocks were their mantra and its seems to be working after 9 years with Spurs.
Arsenal meanwhile will have to go back to the drawing board and find solutions to many problems.
