Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Kalidou Koulibaly this January having watched his most reliable defenders suffer serious injuries.
The injuries to Van Dijk and joe Gomez have dented Liverpool’s chances of retaining the Premier League title but Klopp, is still optimistic of wining it with an injury plagued defender ‘Joel Matip’ who can’t play 5 games in a row alongside a make shift defender and two rookies.
Klopp now wants Kalidou Koulibaly and is prepared to pay whatever Napoli wants provided Liverpool win the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy.
According to The Sun, Liverpool’s injury prone defender Joel Matip is out for two weeks with a back problem and will likely miss the top of the table clash with Tottentham Hotspur.
The defender was substituted in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Fulham after complaining of pain in his lower back to the frustration of Klopp who could only stare in disappointment.
Matip needs to rest and recover but Liverpool need him for Spurs and will certainly inject him with painkillers.
The Sun further reports that Liverpool are interested in signing Barcelona’s superstar Frenkie De Jong as Gini Wijnaldum’s long term replacement. Wijnaldum will leave Liverpool as a free agent this summer having rejected a contract extension with the club.
Gini wants to double his current $75,000-a-week wages by joining the likes of PSG, Juventus or Real Madrid. If those decide to leave, Liverpool are hoping to replace him with De Jong who is equally as good as Wijnaldum but better in keeping the ball and providing the final pass for attackers to score.
