Title Pretenders: Resolute Wolves Expose Chelsea’s Frailties

Wolves have done it! They’ve succeeded in beating Chelsea 2-1 at the Molineux stadium.

The win will certainly please Nuno Espirito who saw his team fight hard from a losing position against one of the best team in the country and snatch a big win.

While Nuno celebrated, Frank Lampard could be seen sulking wondering where it all went wrong for his team who had earlier taking the lead through the inform Olivier Giroud in the 49th minute.

Giroud’s volley was worthy of winning any match but sadly, that wasn’t the case for Chelsea against Wolves.

Wolves pegged them back through Daniel Pondence who had Otasowie to thank for providing a glorious assist.

1-1 was the score line and Chelsea’s dreadful trend of failing to beat a team inside the top 13 continued.

Penalty though given to Wolves in the 81th minute but overruled by VAR. Despite that set back, Wolves still didn’t give up, they fought hard until they won.

Pedro Neto who thought he had won a penalty in the 81th minute scored in 95th to hand Wolves all three points and expose the frailties in Chelsea’s squad.

The Blues might have spent big in the summer but, the team under Frank Lampard is not yet ready to win the premier league title.

Back to back defeats to Everton and Wolves is hardly the form needed to be real contenders. For now, Chelsea are title pretenders.
