Barcelona are preparing to sell the club’s most expensive player Phillipe Coutinho this January.
The club is facing financial difficulties and now need to make adjustments to survive or face bankruptcy. They’ve laid off workers,, sold off some of their stocks and even slashed the wages of players but still, its not enough. Barcelona will now go as far as selling off players who earn too high but contribute little.
According to Sport, the president of the club’s managing committee, Carles Tusquets, is ready to sell off Coutinho this January as part of ongoing cost cutting majors.
Selling Coutinho won’t be easy though, the Brazilian who joined Barcelona from Liverpool in a £142m deal will cost any club interested in him £100m to £80m to sign.
Barcelona’s presciently hopeful Joan Laporta has vowed to bring back Hector Bellerin to the club if he wins in the upcoming presidential election. Laporta feels the 23-year-old has developed remarkably well in Arsenal and his three FA Cup wins proves he is a winner.
Laporta also feels Arsenal will sell him off if Barcelona offers £22m along with add-ons for the boomeranging right back.
The presidential hopeful also believes he can get Lionel Messi to extend his deal with Barcelona. Laporta is confident that he can build a world class team around Messi like he once did in 2008 and won 6 trophies in a single season.
Messi though is aiming to go to PSG but if Barcelona can keep their word and a build a world class team capable of winning him a 5th Champions League trophy, he will retiree at the club.
