Chelsea are the firm favourites to sign Bayern Munich star David Alaba this summer. The versatile defender will become a free agent this summer having rejected Bayern’s contract extension.
The defender’s agent, Pini Zahavi, wants $20m annually for his client, an amount which most clubs in Europe can’t afford. Alaba can only join the richest and most stable clubs in Europe of which Chelsea is among.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea are still aiming to sign West Ham star Declan Rice this January. The versatile midfielder is highly regarded by Frank Lampard who feels he can provide cover in midfield and defense during high pressured games.
Rice is capable of playing as a box to box midfielder, a defensive midfielder and even as a centre back. His vast array of defensive and attacking qualities makes him a $70m player.
Chelsea though are hoping to sell off 7 players this January in other to raise funds for the English midfielder.
Good news coming out from Chelsea camp is that Reece James won’t need surgery for his inflamed Knee. The right back has fluid on his knee and won’t be play football for the mean time.
His absence will see the return of captain Cesar Azpilicueta who might have slowed down over the years but he still posses the determination to fight on and win games for his team. His leadership and defensive organization will be crucial in the upcoming holiday fixtures.
