ESPN reports that Chelsea are planning to sell six of their fringe players this January. The club feels it has too many players who contribute less or nothing to the team’s overall success.
Chelsea hierarchy still trust Frank Lampard regardless of what the media or pundits say about his job security. They believe in his managerial qualities and will offer him time to prove his countless doubters wrong. But to achieve that fate, the club have to get rid off deadwoods and bring in top players.
The club is hoping to sell Marcos Alonso this January. The left back have lost his starting berth to Ben Chilwell who have added energy, pace and tenacity to the left back role.
Chelsea will also sell Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmieri, Danny Drinkwater and the club’s most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Chelsea will also allow Fikayo Tomori leave the club but on loan. Newcastle United and West Brom have both offered to take him on loan.
