Manchester City are planning audacious bid to sign PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe this summer. The 22-year-old might be strongly linked to Real Madrid and Liverpool but Manchester City have always been in the mix to sign him for years.
According to L’Equipe, Manchester City tried to sign Mbappe even before signed his first professional contact at Monaco during the 2015-16 season.
City offered a ridiculous amount of money to sign the teenager but, the players’ entourage rebuffed it. They felt Mbappe needed stability not money.
Months later, City came back for Mbappe after watching him star in Monaco’s emphatic 5-3 win over them in the quarter final back in 2016.
Mbappe’s display was extraordinary good and City wanted him at all cost. They meet Monaco’s sporting director Vadim Vasilyev to discuss transfer move but unfortunately, Mbappe had already agreed to join PSG on loan which will later be made permanent in a $160m deal.
But in spite of all the let downs, City haven’t given up on Mbappe. They believe they will be lucky now for thre emajor reasons. First, Real Madrid don’t have the money to sign Mbappe neither do they’ve the money to pay him his current wages or even improve it.
secondly, Liverpool will automatically be ruled out of signign him if they finish in the Europa League spot. Why? Mbappe don’t play Europa League football.
And thirdly, Manchester City have a better chance of winning this season’s Champions League and once they do, they will strengthen this squad this summer by signing more world class players who will help Mbappe win more Champions League trophies.
