Spanish decline: Why Real Madrid will be worst than average Barcelona

From 2006 to 2018, Real Madrid and Barcelona both dominated the European scene by lifting consecutive continental trophies. Both teams had everything most clubs dreamt of but just couldn’t afford.

While Barcelona kept churning out world class player’s from their academy, Real Madrid kept signing ready made superstars and luckily they got one of history’s greatest goal scorer in Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s arrival meant Barcelona’s icon Lionel Messi had a match and that wasn’t acceptable. Barcelona took the next step by bringing in Neymar to kill off any competition.

Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar will arguably go down as the greatest attacking trident in modern football and if had they stayed together, nobody would be talking of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neymar’s departure was the start of Barcelona’s slump to mediocrity. He might have earned them $230m in cash but, his departure was catastrophic.

Project replace Neymar have now cost Barcelona $360m and yet the three players {Philippe Coutinho, Ousame Dembele and Antoine Griezmann} have all failed to replicate Brazilian.

Shamefully, Barcelona didn’t just spend $360 on three misfit players, they offered Messi over $530m in wages to stop him from leaving.

This result, Barcelona own $1b in debt, have a bunch of average players and have suffered more humiliation in Europe than any Spanish giants. First it was AS Roma, followed by Liverpool, PSG and the worst of all, Bayern Munich {8-2}.

Ronald Keoman’s Copel Dey Rey win is a camouflage, the team is still shit! Celta Vigo confirmed that asserssaton with 2-1 with end Barcelona’s La Liga hopes.

Barcelona might have imploded but Real Madrid have managed to remain steady thanks to Zinedine Zidane. Zizou as he is popularly called managed to use a injury ravaged squad littered with mediocre and over age players to win games and trophies.

He proved he is a world class manager by bringing out the best in Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro and Sergio Ramos en-route to winnign the La Liga.

But Real Madrid prides itself in winning the Champions League consistently not the La Liga or Copa Del Rey meanign Zidane has to go.

Zidane and Koeman will be both be relieved of their duties this summer which goes to show how average but club’s have really become.

While one club have accepted that it’s average and needs to rebuild, the other thinks everything will be ok once the french manager is sacked.
