Former Lyon striker Memphis Depay has confirmed he will be joining Barcelona after Netherland are done with the Euros.
The 27-year-old is a free agent which makes it easier for cash strapped Barcelona to tie him down to a long term contract. The players’ decision to join Barcelona rather than wait for Juventus, PSG or Real Madrid’s call is down to Ronald Koeman who has offered him a realistic chance of playing first team football at the club.
Koeman wants Depay at Barcelona and have made it known by publicly saying that Depay will be part of his squad next season.
Depay’s arrival is massive news to Barcelona fans and board but bad news to Ousame Dembele and Martin Braithwaite who must both leave or suffer the feat of remaining benched.
