De Bruyne’s magic: Belgium beat Denmark 2-1 to seal last 16 spot

Belgium are the second team to progress to the round of 16 after winning their first two matches of the Europe’s. Although, none of the matches were easy especially against the Danes who took the initiatives early on thanks to costly mistake from Jason Denayer’s.

His lose pass in the 2nd minute allowed Hojbjerg intercept the ball and trade quickly for Pousen to finish. The early goal was a morale boaster for the Danes who dedicated the goal to Christian Erickson.

Ericksen was further shown support by the players and crowd who applauded him as he made a quick recovery.

Although, the joyous moments was cut shot by the magic of returning Kevin De Bruyne. The superstar provided an assist for Thorgan Hazard to restore parity before firing a low shot to make it 2-1.

By so doing, De Bruyne is the only European player to assist a goal in each of the last four major international tournaments. He is also the first second-half substitute to do that at the European Championship since Fernando Torres for Spain against Italy in the 2012 final.

The win is good news for Roberto Martinez who will now rest players for Finland.
