Barcelona president Joan Laporta have commenced the process of clearing out dead woods who have struggled to live up expectation. Players the club. Players like Samuel Umtiti and Miralem Pjanic are currently been offered the opportunity to rescind their contracts and leave as free agents.
Sadly, both players have refused to leave knowing no sane club will offer them crazy contracts like Barcelona once did.
The Blaugrana giants are now hoping to sell seven players in other save €55m in wages and €350m in contract obligations for the next 2 seasons.
Added to that, the club manager Ronald Koeman has deemed the likes of Miralem Pjanic, Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho, Ousame Dembele, Junior Firpo, Matheu Fernandes and Trincao surplus to requirement.
But selling the big names are proving difficult than the lesser known players. The likes of Coutinho, Dembele or Pjanic will command a transfer fee of over €45m and a weekly payment of over €150,000-a-week.
No Champions League club will pay such a hefty price for them knowing they’ve struggled with form and fitness issues for the past two seasons.
Although, selling the big names might prove difficult at the moment but the club will certainly find a solution to get all four out of the club in other to save more and offer Lionel Messi a reasonable contract.
