Currently, they’re five players capable of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or. The first name on the list will certainly be N’Golo Kante who single handily blow away Manchester City’s midfield as Chelsea won their second Champions League trophy in history.
Another contender is Jorginho who played a stellar role in Chelsea winning the Champions League and Italy the European Champions league. The 26-year-old is a super talented player and his success with Italy proved he doesn’t need Kante to become an European Champion.
Third and fourth on the list is Juventus and Italian legends Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci. If the Ballon d’Or could be shared into the two then those two deserve to winning it after years of helping Juventus dominate Seria A and now leading Italy to their first Euros since 1968.
Statistically, no single attacker dibble past them. Colossal.
The fifth and final player on the list is Lionel Messi. The former Barcelona player didn’t just win the Copa Del Rey title with his former club, he won the Copa America with Argentina. His first ever senior title after 16 years.
Added to that, Messi scored 38 goals with 14 assists with Barcelona and finished 26 times as player of the match. He was also awarded the Pichichi for the La Liga’s highest goal scorer.
With Argentina, Messi was the tournaments best player, highest goal scorer and top assist maker.
Least to forget, Ballon d’Or is focused on player’s marketing value, fan base and journalists support. Messi has all that which is more reason he will win it not Jorginho or Kante.
