5 reasons why Lionel Messi contract with Barcelona isn’t official

Lionel Messi will remain a Barcelona player after accepting a deal in principle to extend his stay with the club for another five years. The multi talented player will sign a 5 years contract with the Bluagrana giants and hope to win more trophies with the club after ending his long wait to win an international trophy.

Both parties might have been agreed but for now, an announcement is halted until little issues are been dealt with thoroughly.

Duration of contract and afterwards- Lionel Messi, 34, might have signed a five year contract with Barcelona but he expected to play for two more years before retiring. He then be moved to USA to become the club’s USA ambassador.

Interesting as it might sound but Messi needs to be able to decide two years later if he wants to continue with the Barcelona franchises or move to another brand who wiling to keep him at Barcelona and pay him good money. He doesn’t want to be held hostage.

Messi will earn $36m-a-seaosn at Barcelona- Lionel Messi will no longer be signing a four year contract worth $500m. His fee has been reduced to meet La Liga’s salary cap and Barcelona wage structure.

La Liga are yet to accept the terms– Lionel Messi deal is yet to be confirmed until Barcelona sufficiently explains how they’re going to pay Lionel Messi his huge wages and other players contracted to them. The Spanish authorities won’t register Lionel Messi and others until Barcelona give them a positive graph of their incomes and savings.

Lionel Messi contract depends on big names leaving- Barcelona might have succeeded in selling off the likes of Trincao, Junior Firpo, Konrad de la Fuente, Jean-Clair Todibo and Carles Alena. But this is like putting pennies into the piggy bank and hoping it’ll prove enough to save up for a Ferrari.

Barcelona have to sell one big earner to make way for Messi. Philippe Coutinho, Ousame Dembele, Miralem Pjanic or Antoine Griezmann have to leave before Messi’s contract becomes active.
