Sinking league: Why the Spanish La Liga will lose value without Lionel Messi

They was a time when La LIga was the envy of Europe and the rest of the world. A time when the like sof Real Madrid has the financial capacity and history to boss everyone around sign who ever they felt was god enough for them.

The ‘Galatico’ was the name giving to that era. A period when Real Madrid had no need to develop plaeyrs like their great rivals Barcelona did, but simply bought the best players in the world.

Superstars like Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and so many of them started the era. And then came Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Arjen Robben, Marcelo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and the best of the lots Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid though struggled for dominance in Europe and Spain thanks to Barcelona who had a world class academy that produced excellent players.

Players like Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, Cesc Frebagas, Pedro Rodriquez, Carles Puyol and the best of the lots Lionel Messi are all products of La Masia.

Thus making Barcelona vs. Real Madrid the world’s most watched game.

El Clasico was special cause it was the moment you get to see the world’s best players take on each other. Its was the game that displayed the full array of tricks, dribbles, flicks, tackles, saves and goals.

But sadly all that is in the past. Now its Atletico Madrid who is stepping up and leading the rest.

Why? Barcelona is an average team that depends wholly on Lionel Messi to pull the strings in midfield and most times, score the winning goals. Without Lionel Messi, Barcelona is just another average La Liga team with one two promising players- Pedri.

This is why La Liga and Barcelona are hell bent on bringing back Lionel Messi to market both La Liga and Barcelona.

Real Madrid on the other hand can’t refurbish their aging squad cause they no longer have the money to intimidate others. In fact, state owned clubs like Manchester City and PSG have made it almost impossible for Real Madrid to sign the best.

Kylian Mbappe and Neymar are typical examples of Real Madrid and Barcelona’s fading influence.

Added to that, La Liga don’t even have good managers who can truly compete with managers in teh Premier League. Pep Guardiola alone is far superior to all of them.

Put all this into perspectives and you understand why Barcelona must bring back Lionel Messi. Without him, the Spanish La Liga will lose viewership or subscription. No body wants to watch Isco,

Put all this perspective and you discover why La Liga is sinking..

Atletico Madrid might have sparked a little bit of live in it thanks to Luis Suarez but how long with the Uruguay last.. A year or two maybe before La Liga and Suarez Uruguay
