2018 was the year Phillipe Coutinho made a career decision that forever altered Barcelona’s future and that of Liverpool.
To Liverpool, it was the best decision at the time to sell their talisman and use the £105m paid upfront to revamp their squad by signing Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri.
The four of them ensured Liverpool won the Champions League trophy for the sixth time and along with their first ever Premier League title.
Barcelona meanwhile have struggled financially which has seen their best player leave for PSG while Philippe Coutinho have been stripped of his number 14 jersey. The Brazilian don’t even have a shirt number which goes to prove Barcelona have to no more room for him.
They want him gone and have contacted Lazio to take him on loan with an option to buy for £25m. In fact, Barcelona are willing to share the burden of paying half of his £200,000-a-week wage so he can leave as quickly as possible.
Its really painful seeing caricatures of Coutinho as a ‘money grabber’ and a ‘shit player’.
The Brazilian still remains a world class attacking midfielder/ second striker and all he needs is the love of his manager, the teammates and fans to get rediscover his brilliant and this where Liverpool comes in.
With Gini Wijnaldum gone, Coutinho can easily slot in alongside Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Off course! Liverpool have lots of midfielders to pick from but the likes of Naby Keita, Oxlade Chamberlian and Thiago Alcantara are all injury prone and will likely break down.
Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot are good players but they’re not in the level of Philippe Coutinho.
What Coutinho needs now is Jurgen Klopp’s love, confidence in his ability and instructions. That fatherly love and strong bonding with his teammates and fans will get him back to his brilliant best.
Although, the Brazilian must forfeit his huge earning at Barcelona and focus on getting back his career.
He cannot accept to be labeled a ‘shit player who is sucking hard on the drying tits of Barcelona for more milk knowing they no longer have money’.
Its time Philippe Coutinho leaves Barcelona and join a club that really loves him.
