Fighting for survival: Barcelona stuck with 4 unwanted players

Barcelona are reportedly struggling to sell off four of their wanted players before the transfer window shuts close. The club financial troubles of the club is well documented and they now need to cut off players who earn very high and contribute so little

The likes of Miralem Pjanic, Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite are all expected to leave but, Barcelona can’t find a Champions League club willing to pay them crazy wages.

Why? Philippe Coutinho was injured for most part of last season and then took no part in Barcelona’s pre-season training due to injuries. He is fit now but club’s aren’t ready to pay £200,000-a-week to a player who is out of form and unfit.

Nor are club’s willing to pay Umtiti £75,000-a-week knowing he is currently deemed surplus to requirement. Juventus meanwhile closed their door on Miralem Pjanic after signing Manuel Locatelli for £35,000 while Martin Braithwaite is trying to convince Barcelona to give him one more shot.

He scored two goals and an assist in Barcelona’s first match of the season. The signs of improvement is good and Barcelona might just keep him knowing his wages are not too high.
